Samuel Horton Fine

Samuel Horton Fine, age 81, of Merritt Island, Fla., died Feb. 16, 2022, at University Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., due to complications from heart surgery. He was born on Sept. 9, 1940, in Nevada, Mo., to Horton and Lucille Fine. He was survived by his wife, Jo Kidd-Fine; brother, Randy and his wife, Mary Fine; and sister, Karen and her husband, Bob Laflen.

He retired as a Marketing Teacher at Parkway Central High School, in Chesterfield, Mo. He was a member of Fairfield Mountains Chapel in Lake Lure, N.C.

He was survived by two children, Sam Fine and his wife, Eliza, of Asheville, N.C., and Deb Fine-McNanna and her husband, Don, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two stepchildren, Trisha Reynolds and her husband, Randy, of Cocoa, Fla., and Kristy Sheppard and husband, Craig, of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Samuel, Amy, Elise, Jeremy, Erin, Jenny, Nicole, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Grayson, Charlotte, Uriah, Abel, Elora, Skyler, and Rorick. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laree Jones Fine; and grandson, Austin.

A graveside service will be held at Bill’s Creek Baptist Church, Lake Lure, N.C., on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
