Jerald (Jerry) Dean Hibberd

Jerald (Jerry) Dean Hibberd, 82, Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Cox Barton County Hospital, in Lamar. Jerry was born Feb. 11, 1940, in Gibbon, Neb., to Max and Edith Hibberd, the fifth of 14 children.

Jerry served in the Air Force for two years while stationed in Lincoln, Neb. On July 1, 1962, he married Donna Mae Gottfried at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cleveland, N.D. The couple lived in Minnesota until 1975 at which time they moved to Missouri. Jerry worked at Garner Gas station in Nevada, Mo., until they closed their doors. He then worked at Ford Garage for two years, the Nevada Sale Barn hauling cattle, PWSD#1 for two years, and then at PWSD#2 for 36 years until his retirement in January 2021. Jerry was a longtime member of the Milo Fire Department (from 1978 until his death), and also a longtime member of the Lion’s Club (30+ years).

Jerry and Donna were blessed with two children, Jamie and Cathy, and also fostered 15 children during a span of 15 years and still keep in contact with three of them.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of the home; a son, Jamie, Springfield, Mo.; and his daughter, Cathy, also of the home. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one sister.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 10, at the Milo Fire-barn, in Milo, Mo.
