Warden “Jack” Pate Jr.

Warden “Jack” Pate Jr., 65, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Freeman West Hospital, in Joplin. Jack was born July 31, 1956, in Tyler, Miss., to Warden J. and Laura L. (Cartwright) Pate. He was united in marriage to Karen Lynnette Burdick on Sept. 30, 1979, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

At a young age, Jack came to Nevada along with his family. He attended school in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1974. Following high school Jack served in the United States Navy until his retirement after 23 years of service. Jack had a love for western movies and western books and was a Raiders Football fan. He also loved to cook and spend time with his family. He will be missed.

In addition to his wife, Karen, he is survived by three children, Joshua Pate (Andrea), West Monrow, La., Daniel (Vanessa Thin) Pate, Columbus, Kan., and Rebecca Fields, Nevada; eight grandchildren, Tyler Fields, Katelyn Fields, Mohave Pate, Cameron Pate, Nova Pate, Tessa Pate, Isaiah Pate, and Caspian Pate; and one sister, Nettie Chadd, Milo, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Eddie Joe Pate.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, at Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan.
