Sharon Kay Lawrence

Sharon Kay Lawrence, 80, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following a brief illness. Sharon was born Oct. 9, 1941, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Loren B. and Nellie L. (Cowan) Hazlett. She was united in marriage to Jim Lawrence on Feb. 26, 1960, in Deerfield, Mo., and he survives of the home.

Sharon grew up in Fort Scott and graduated from Fort Scott High School Class of 1959. Following her marriage to Jim, she worked for Lawrence Lumber, a five-generation family business, for most of her married life. Sharon had a love for dogs, traveling, antique cars, and especially loved being with her family.

In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by two children, Bryan Lawrence, Deerfield, and Bridget Kavanagh, Joplin; two grandchildren, Shannon Lawrence, Deerfield, and Melissa Kavanagh, Joplin; three great-grandchildren, Emily Lawrence, Colton Lawrence, and Chase Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Michael Lawrence; and a great-grandson, Matthew Lawrence.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, May 12, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada.
