Bronaugh R-7 School District’s board members met for the end-of-year board meeting on Thursday evening. After going through the roll call, approval of agenda, and going over the previous minutes of the last meeting held, it was time to get down to business.

A public comment was made by one of the teachers of the Bronaugh School District. She stated she wanted to let the administrators know how well of a job they have done of making the entire teaching staff feel appreciated in a tough time for teachers, in general. After an evaluation of the food program in Bronaugh, the board moved on to new business.

A new reading proposal was introduced to the board members last night. With the old reading system being in use for the past 10 years, a new style from the same company was brought up. It would focus on the kindergarten through fifth grade students, and was copyrighted for 2023. This is the newest edition they have. The motion was passed and voted on the council, and has been approved to start in the next school year.

A school maintenance discussion was on the planned agenda for Thursday night's meeting. They read the first plans for the facilities, which had the school getting new epoxy on the bottom of the walls for insulation, as well as a new HVAC to cool down the school/gym. The original price was $100,000 but the council decided to delay the ruling and get different offers from various companies around the area.

Finally, one of the biggest discussions was whether to allow the Sheldon Panthers to play baseball/softball in the green and white jerseys in Bronaugh in a co-op situation for the 2022-2023 school year.

Bronaugh for the past couple of years has joined the Liberal Bulldogs in their softball team just miles down the road, but they have an opportunity to play at home in their school colors. A lengthy discussion on whether to allow Sheldon join was held in the meeting, only to be decided to table this conversation until December when a final decision has to be made.

After a Principal's report and Superintendent's report, a closed session was discussed and then the meeting adjourned.
