Bobby “Junior” Luther

Bobby “Junior” Luther, 76, of Metz, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 at his home.

Junior was born on Sept. 29, 1945, to John F. and Ida Elizabeth (Gamble) Luther. He was the youngest of 11 children.

He was married to Linda Lou Loyd on Sept. 27, 1963. They spent near 59 years of wedded bliss together.

Junior was raised on a farm near Deepwater, Mo., and went to school in Appleton City.

He worked as a farmer at various farms before beginning his career at the fertilizer plant in Rich Hill. He spread fertilizer for 40+ years and was a dedicated employee.

Junior enjoyed a simple life. He loved working with his horses, raising cattle, hunting, visiting the casino on occasion, and spending time with his friends and family.

In his eyes there was no need to travel very far from home because he had all he needed right there in Metz.

In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by three children, Bobby (Sherri) Luther, Kristi (Don) Hinkle, and Bill (Carla) Luther; nine grandchildren, Ashley (BJ) Hensley, Rachael (Brad) Begemann, Joe (Courtney) Luther, Courtney (Thad) Smith, PJ (Ashley) Thron, Whitney Hinkle, Morgan (Alex) Gordon, Brandon (Cori) Luther, and Aubry Luther; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Fast and Mary (John) Kern; and close friend, Daurell Reasoner and Bandit, his sidekick.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Hubert, Elmer, Eddie, and Johnnie Lee; sisters, Rosie, Gladys, and Ada; and son-in-law, Stan Hinkle.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., today, at Heuser Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, at Heuser Funeral Home.
