Dorthy Lee (Hendricks) Ray

Dorthy Lee Ray, 72, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Wednesday evening June 15, 2022, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following an illness.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Dorthy was born June 15, 1950, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., to Harry William Hendricks and Willie Jo Fox Hendricks. She was raised in Stockton, Mo., by her grandparents, Maude and Raymond Fox.

Dorthy moved with her sister, Shirley, to Oregon in 1967 and graduated from Finn Rock High School in 1968. She met and married Richard J. Stanfield in 1969 and of this union three children were born. They later divorced.

Survivors include three children. Her daughters, Kandice Gerster and husband John, of Nevada, Mo., and Shelly Romesburg and husband Bennie, of Pittsburg, Kan.; son, Joseph Stanfield, of Nevada, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dorthy is also survived by her dearest friend of over 50 years, Lisa Stark, of California, Mo.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Jimmy Ray; her parents, Harry William Hendricks and Willie Jo Fox Hendricks; grandparents, Maude and Raymond Fox, and Elmer and Maggie Hendricks; two brothers, Bill and Jack Hendricks; and two sisters, Shirley Franklin and Connie Dill.

A celebration of Dorthy's life will be held at a future date.
