Clarence E. “Hack” Hackleman

Clarence E. “Hack” Hackleman, age 88, of El Dorado Springs, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022. Hack was born July 15, 1934, in Cedar County, Mo. He was the son of Charles “Dude” and Gladys Marie Hackleman. Hack was a graduate of El Dorado Springs High School. Hack served in the United States Army from March of 1957 to March of1959. Hack married Janie on Dec. 4, 1954, in Tiffin, Mo. They resided in El Dorado Springs for the 64 years of their marriage and raised three sons. Janie was the light of his world and he loved and cared for her until her last days.

Hack enjoyed his life, family, friends and community. He enjoyed the outdoors, haying and spending time on his farm working with cattle. He also enjoyed fishing as well as being an avid coon and bird hunter. He was active in his sons’ and grandchildren’s lives, never missing a sporting event or activity. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan enjoying games up through his final days.

He attended Church of God (Holiness) regularly and was always willing to serve and volunteer when he was able. Hack loved to visit and drink coffee with his friends and townspeople. He was a friend to all who knew him. In addition to being a loving husband, father, and friend Hack served his community for several years as the Cedar County Coroner.

In 1980, Hack along with Gary Peterman, opened and operated the Hackleman-Peterman Funeral Home until 1987 when Hack purchased Gary’s half and it became Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. He and his family continued to operate and serve the community in this capacity until he sold the business to Randy Bland in 2007,returning to work when needed or when requested by families in the community.

Preceding Hack in death were his parents, Charles “Dude” and Gladys Marie Hackleman; and his son, Mike; and wife, Janie.

Survivors include his sons, Kirk Hackleman of El Dorado Springs, Mo., and Todd Hackleman and wife Christy of Mulvane, Kan.; six grandchildren, Lance, Layne, Taylor and wife Taylor, Trey and wife Morgan, Reed, and Tatum; five great-grandchildren, Walker, Barrett, Maverick, Emma, and Rory.
