Percy Leon Heitz, 88, Bronaugh, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., following a brief illness. Percy was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Bronaugh, to Percy Alva and Blanche Opal (Seitz) Heitz. He married Dorothy Ellen Mayhugh on Nov. 17, 1956, in Fort Scott, Kan., and she preceded him in death on June 7, 2015.

Percy was raised in Bronaugh and graduated from Bronaugh High School Class of 1952. Percy lived his entire life in the house that he was born in which was built in 1881. He farmed and raised cattle his whole life. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include four daughters, Sandra L. Heitz, Bronaugh, Tammie Keith (Austin), Columbia, Mo., Deborah Wagener (Shaw), La Canada, Calif., and Teresa Turner (Jeff), Louisburg, Kan.; four grandchildren, Sophie Wagener, Harrison Wagener, Lucas Turner, and Holly Turner; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Don Heitz and Joe Heitz.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., today, Nov. 29, 2022, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery in Bourbon County, Kan. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in his name to the Vernon County Youth Fair, or the Clarksburg Cemetery Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
