Ethel Virginia Braun

Ethel Virginia Braun, 91, of Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. Ethel was born on Nov. 13, 1931, in Nevada, to William Scott Ramsey and Bertha Mae (Hastings) Ramsey. In 1949, she married Wilbur Vernon Braun in Arkansas and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1982.

Ethel grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1949. She worked for a brief time at Scott’s Dime Store then worked for 35 years at J. C. Penny’s in Nevada until her retirement. 

Ethel enjoyed going to their mobile home at Grand Lake and fishing with her husband. She lived in Independence, Mo., for a time to be near her family.

Survivors include her son, Stan Braun (Martha), Independence, Mo.; two grandchildren, Joey Braun, Raytown, Mo., and Maddi Fisher, Independence, Mo.; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Harbor, Garland, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Wilbur, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; Kathryn Fast; five brothers, Carl Ramsey, Pete Ramsey, Ray Ramsey, Cecil Ramsey, and Buck Ramsey; and one daughter-in-law, Linda Brown.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Moore Cemetery, Nevada, with Dr. Kevin Daugherty officiating. Friends may call now until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada.
