Linda Sue Scammell

Linda Sue Scammell, Richards, Mo., passed from this life into heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at the age of 77. She was born April 8, 1945, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Rex and Jean (Douglas) Charles. On Feb. 14, 1965, she was united in marriage to Charles Scammell at First Christian Church in Nevada, and together they raised two children.

Linda graduated from Nevada High School in 1963 and attended Fort Scott Community College. Early in her adult life, Linda worked as a lab technician for many years. In past years she enjoyed playing the piano and painting. When her daughter was in elementary school, Linda served as Brownies and Girl Scout Leaders, which enabled her to touch many young lives. From early on until she took her last breath on earth, she loved people and would do anything possible for those in need. She was such a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother (Mema), and friend. The love of Jesus lived in her heart and definitely poured out onto others. 

Linda leaves behind her husband, Chuck of 57 years, of the home in Richards; one son, Patrick Scammell and his spouse Randy, of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Angela Johnson and her husband Kyle, of Plano, Texas; one granddaughter, Alicia Pickens and her husband Christopher of Oakwood, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jace, Jocelyn, Lawson, Memphis, and Lincoln; one brother, Joe Charles and his wife, Georgia, of Richards, Mo.; one sister, Elizabeth Perrin, of Richards, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Tom Charles; and a brother-in-law, Paul Perrin.

A Celebration of Life will take place on her birthday, April 8, 2023. Details to follow.
