Alfred Lester Nichols

Alfred Lester Nichols, 82, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at Medicalodges, in Nevada, following a brief illness. Lester was born Nov. 19, 1940, in Nevada, to Alfred W. and Louella M. (Wright) Nichols. He married Rosetta Mae Owens on May 18, 1960, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

Lester was a lifelong resident of Nevada. He attended the RLDS Church while growing up and developed a strong belief in the Lord. He worked in the grocery business most of his life and also worked at the State Hospital in Nevada for a number of years. Lester was known for his of sense of humor, he was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, enjoyed fishing, traveling, and going to Branson.

In addition to his wife, Rosetta, he is survived by one daughter, Francine Riggs (Jerry), Nevada; two grandchildren, John Murphy (Megan), Nevada, and Shea Moore (Brandon), Centerton, Ark.; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Murphy, Madison Murphy, Jamin Murphy, Jaxson Murphy, Gabriel Moore, Natalie Moore, and Camden Moore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice Nichols and Marion Nichols; and one sister, Markalene Kistner.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
