Nevada wins courtwarming game, 59-53

Courtwarming 2023 took place Friday evening, Jan. 13, with the Nevada Varsity Tigers taking on the East Newton Patriots. The Patriots attempted to give the Tigers a run for their money throughout the whole entire game, however, the Tigers took the lead by 2 points by the end of the first quarter with a score of 14-12. The following Tigers scored in the first quarter: Drew Beachler scored 8 points, Jack Cheaney scored 3 points, Brice Budd scored 2 points, and Cade Beshore scored a free throw.

The Patriots decided to turn up the heat in the second quarter and outscored the Tigers, 17-13, with the following Tigers scoring: Riddick Shook scored 6 points, Brice Budd scored 4 points, Drew Beachler scored 2 points, and Talan Chandler scored a free throw.

Coming out of halftime, the Tigers fought back and outscored the Patriots, 20-12, with the following Tigers scoring: Cade Beshore scored 9 points, Jack Cheaney scored 7 points, Drew Beachler scored 2 points, and Brice Budd scored 2 points.

Finally in the last quarter, the Patriots tried to retaliate, even at the cost of committing fouls and trying to get the ball back several times, but the Tigers never gave up their fight and continuously answered back, with both teams scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter, and the Tigers taking the victory, 59-53. The following Tigers scored in the fourth quarter: Jack Cheaney scored 4 points, Cade Beshore scored 3 points, Brice Budd scored 3 points,and Gabe Smith scored 2 points.

The JV Nevada Tigers beat East Newton’s Patriots, 53-34, and the Freshman Tigers beat East Newton’s Patriots, 48-34 prior to the Varsity game.
