Wannita Pauline Stansill

Wannita Pauline Stansill, 82, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, in West Des Moines, Iowa. Pauline was born March 12, 1940, in Horton, Mo., to Ralph P. and Gladys F. (Henning) Houdeshell. She was married to Marvin I. Powell on Aug. 9, 1958, in Gashland, Mo., and he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1967, in Liberty, Mo. She was married to John H. Stansill on Oct. 25, 1968, in Miami, Okla., and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2005, in Springfield, Mo.

Pauline graduated from Liberty High School in 1957. She worked at Sears for 33 years in Kansas City, Mo., doing clerical work. Her hobbies included quilting, embroidery, and cross-stich.

Survivors include three children, Theresa Thompson (Kevin), Carla Anders (Ben), and Rodney Stansill; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 11 siblings, Dan R. "Junior" Houdeshell (Betty), Maudie Bogart, Mae Lamb, Ruby Castlebury-White, Pat Schwartz, Ellen Brooks (Mike), Dinah Smith (Charlie), Sarah Underwood (Ralph), Jimmie Houdeshell, Wanda Watts (Richard), and Raymond Houdeshell. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild; six siblings, Lloyd Houdeshell, Lee Houdeshell, Lillia Bogart, Bob Houdeshell, Viola Chancelor, and Lenora McElwee.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Sheldon Christian Church in Sheldon, Mo., on Saturday, Feb. 11, and graveside committal will follow in the Sheldon Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested in her name to the American Cancer Society in care of Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada.
