Rhonda Elouise McCartney, aged 69 years, Nevada, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023, surrounded by her family at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

She was born in Sedalia, Mo., on July 6, 1953, to Charles E. Holman and Patricia S. Holman.

She met Glenn Henry McCartney at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and was united in marriage on Oct. 22, 1971.

Rhonda was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She spent her working years at the Nevada Habilitation Center, Tyson's, and Bothwell Regional Hospital.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had many passions throughout her years of life that included knitting, crocheting, painting, gardening of house plants, collecting angels, thrift shopping, playing cards, watching her favorite shows, but her biggest passion was taking care of others.

She was diagnosed with cancer in December 2022 and was so happy the day she got to ring the bell on April 6, 2023.

She is survived by her loving companion and caregiver, Glenn H. McCartney, of Nevada, Mo.; her children, Glenn Richard McCartney, of Sheldon, Mo., Terreina Sujane Burns (Shannon), of El Dorado Springs, Mo., Rhonda Sue Ann Shore (Kevin), of Nevada, Mo., and Joseph Howard McCartney, of Sheldon, Mo. She also was blessed with four very special bonus daughters, Krystal McCartney, of Sheldon, Mo., Janeth Gonzalez, of Kansas City, Mo., Isabel Gonzalez (Jose Mendoza Jr.), of Sedalia, Mo., and Evalia Gonzalez (Jose Romero), of Sedalia, Mo.; one bonus son, John L. Jenkins Jr., of Nevada, Mo.; one brother, Carl Dawayne Holman, of Springfield, Mo.; and 16 grandchildren, Robbie, Jacob, Meckinize, Derek, Timothy, Tawnie, Danny, Ashley, Aaron, Austin, Alexa, Erick, Natalie, Cattaleya, Xavier, and Sabastion; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both her parents.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m., May 13, at the Sheldon Baptist Church, in Sheldon, Mo., with Pastor Jerod Lamb.
