The Nevada City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening. Starting off the meeting, Mayor Kendall Vickers read a pair proclamations. The first proclamation declared May 22-26, 2023, as EMS Week. The next proclamation declared May 27, 2023, as VFW Buddy Poppy Day.

In communications and petitions, Executive Director of the Nevada Housing Authority gave the council an update and overview of the Housing Authority's audit, year ending June 30, 2022. Koehn noted that she was "pleased to report that we have no findings."

Also giving a presentation during the communications and petitions was Dana Redburn giving an update on the Youth Diversion Program and Park Board Chair Cyndia Haggard discussing the future of Davis Park. See the Friday edition of the Nevada Daily Mail for more in-depth coverage on both of these reports.

In old business, the council unanimously approved Bill No. 2023-038. This ordinance would reinstate the plumbing and electrical boards to the city code.

The council also unanimously approved, in new business, a pair of ordinances. The first being an agreement with Missouri Main Street Connection, Inc. for participation in the Missouri Main Street Program. The second ordinance authorized an agreement with CivicPlus for the redesign of the City's website.

In his city manager's report, Mark Mitchell noted that Bushwhacker Days will still be held on the downtown Nevada Square this year. The north side of the downtown Square will be closed off and not utilized, due to the dilapidated building located there. Carnival rides will be moved elsewhere and vendor booths will be relocated from that side of the Square, as well.
