Nevada High School held commencement ceremony Sunday
The Nevada High School seniors held their graduation ceremonies this past Sunday afternoon, May 21. The seniors strolled down the aisle while the Nevada High School Crimson Sound band played Pomp and Circumstance, and the Nevada JROTC did the presentation of colors.
Nevada High School Principal Robert Miner welcomed and thanked everyone for attending the ceremony, followed by another welcome by Senior Class President Emma Claspill. The Crimson Sound band performed the song "Legends," followed by Valedictorians Lexis Brewer, Isabella Brooks, Emma Leisure, Maddy Majors, Avery Morris, Bridget Naas, and Allie Rains speaking to the crowd, reflecting on their high school memories and the great times they had with friends.
The Nevada High School Show Choir performed "Bridge over Troubled Water," followed by the presentations of diplomas by President of School Board of Education Joy Hawks, and Nevada R-5 Superintendent Dr. Tyson Beshore. Senior Class co-Vice Presidents Ethan Young and Susannah Kimmell spoke for the senior closing, and then the band performed Pomp and Circumstance once again, when the Class of 2023 walked out of Wynn Gymnasium for the final time as a group.
