Rural fire departments in disagreement on 'fire lines'

The area rural fire departments met recently with county emergency management concerning a dispute over rural fire lines — which fire department has jurisdiction over which area of the county. There currently is nothing registered with the county commission that sets these lines.

The state fire marshal has stated that these lines must be determined and it is up to the fire departments to come to an agreement. Nevada Fire Department has put a proposal in for 1200 Road to 1900 Road, and then Lady Road down to Rebel Road.

Three of the five county fire departments are in agreement with Nevada, with the exclusion of Compton Junction and Walker departments.

Another emergency management meeting will be held in the coming weeks to further discuss and more information will be published at that time.
