Jerry L. Moore passed from this life, Tuesday December 26, 2023 at his home in Nevada, MO. Jerry was born at Nevada City Hospital Oct. 25, 1947 to Gerald P. Moore and Twilia Hendrix Moore. He grew up in Nevada, attended Nevada School, except for fifth and sixth grades where he attended Bronaugh School. He graduated Nevada High School in 1965. He worked at Seaton’s Meat Market during his last two years of high school until entering the Navy in February 1967. He was sent to San Diego, CA., for his basic training and from there to Barber’s Point, Hawaii where he met the love of his life, Loraine Mae (Rayna) Gentile of Pittsburgh, PA. The two were married August 16, 1968 in his parent’s home in Nevada. Two children were born of this union; a son, Eric Preston, and a daughter, Nicole Jolene. Jerry retired October 31, 1989 from the Navy after 23 years.

During his time in the Navy, he served in Great Lakes, IL and Glenview Naval Station in Illinois. He was a Navy Recruiter in downtown Chicago, Oak Harbor, WA., and San Diego, CA. He also served on the U.S.S. Coral Sea and the U.S.S. Constellation. During those years in the Navy, Jerry’s family traveled with him for many years vacationing all over the United States during his leaves.

One of his greatest joys in life was NASCAR Racing.

Following retirement, Jerry and his family lived in Glenview, IL. Where he enjoyed driving a school bus. Many years later, they returned to Nevada, MO in 2016. By that time, he and Rayna were both declining in health. Upon moving back to Nevada, Jerry drove the bus for Nevada Schools until his health required him to fully retire.

He enjoyed many things in life, including; spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He spent much of his time at the Nevada Speedway where he watched his young grandson, Hunter Lagunas, racing. He was very proud of him.

Jerry is survived by his mother, Twilia Moore, son Eric Moore and wife Gloria, daughter Nicole Moore of the home, granddaughter Tiffany Moore, grandson Hunter Lagunas, and great granddaughter Penelope Cook of the home. A sister Vicki Hensley and husband Roger, a brother Carl Moore, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Those preceding him in death were his wife, Rayna, father Gerald Moore, grandparents Harry and Letha Moore, Ed and Fern Hendrix, sister Joy Moore, Uncle Harold Moore, Bud Hendrix, Aunt Nadine Moore, niece Kristi Hensley, and a special cousin Carol Tounson.

Jerry was a wonderful son, a great Dad and brother, bust most of all, an amazing Grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
