Norvell Fanning

Norvell Fanning, 88, Independence, MO, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at his home in Independence. Norvell was born October 7, 1935, in Milo, MO to Ralph W. and Mildred E. (Hiestand) Fanning. He married Charmion Lee Mesplay on February 25, 1959, in Miami, OK and she survives at home.

     Norvell attended Nevada High School for three years and graduated from Faith Bible Academy in 1953 in Camdenton, MO. He served in the US Air Force for 3 years and was stationed in France and Germany. Norvell was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Independence, MO.

     In addition to his wife, Charmion, survivors include his children: Debra Allee, Independence, MO, Matt Fanning of Flemington, MO and Mark Fanning of Flemington, MO, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.   Norvell was preceded in death by his four brothers, Ivan Fanning, Dwight Fanning, Raymond Fanning, and Melvin Fanning, and three sisters, Louetta Whiteside, Roberta Handyside, and Marjorie Swanson, and a grandson, Marcus Fanning.

     Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Olive Branch Cemetery, Milo, MO, with Pastor Darren Tharp officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11am to 12 pm at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, MO prior to the service.
