Gary Leroy Shropshire

Gary Leroy Shropshire, age 77, of Schell City, MO, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday evening, April 20, 2025. Gary was born to parents James Robert and Elizabeth Lee (Oldridge) Shropshire on February 4, 1948, in Kansas City, MO.

Gary’s family moved to the Schell City area when he was young, and the area remained his home for the rest of his life. Before they moved to Vernon County, Gary was baptized. He attended school in Schell City where he met his future wife, Margie Mae Davis. They were married on March 12, 1966, in Independence, MO and to this union four children were born – two sons and twin daughters.

After his school years, Gary worked for a time in Harrisonville at Acme Brick until its closing in the late 1960’s. He then began employment with Crane Plumbing in late1970 and worked there until his retirement twenty-seven years later. Shortly thereafter he opened Shropshire’s CB Sales and Service, running that business for a number of years - then went on to start his own remodeling business that he ran until his health no longer allowed – that was just last year in 2024.

Gary was an avid hunter and loved gardening. He and Margie always loved playing bingo anytime they could --- and they also loved taking motorcycle trips with friends.

Gary is survived by his wife, Margie of the home; his children: Fred Shropshire and wife Lisa, Tina McKinley and husband Clint, Cindi Shropshire and Becky Brooks, and Gary Shropshire Jr and Kassandra; grandchildren: Megan, Shayne, Logan, Brady, Stephen, Blake, Aleigha, Kaden, Kyle, Josh; great grandchildren: Reagan, Nolan, Kendrick, Blair, Cameron, Connor, Clayton, Josephine, Craig, and Colton; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Shropshire; brother, William Smith; and sister, Diana Shropshire. Of special mention, he was also preceded in death by a very special granddaughter, Ashli.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Green Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
