Carol June Smith

Carol June Smith, 86 of Nevada, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at her home in Nevada. June was born on June 28, 1939 in Moundville, MO to Joseph Clinton and Edith Mae (Blackwell) Gillespie. On June 12, 1959 she was married to Obie A. Smith and he preceded her in death on December 28, 2003.

June was raised in Moundville and graduated from Bronaugh High School. She attended business school in Kansas City and worked for the Nevada State Hospital for over 25 years as an administrative assistant. She and Obie then moved to Texas where she went to work for Ciber (Computer Systems) also as an administrative assistant. After returning to Nevada she continued to work for Nevada State Hospital until her retirement.

Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Seely and her husband Gary of Carl Junction, and Karen Delgado and her husband Sergio of Richmond, TX and her son, Thad Smith and his wife Melissa of Conroe, TX, three grandchildren, Tad Ross of Florida, Andrew Smith(Lauren) of Ruston, LA, and Adrian Delgado, Cypress, TX, three great grandchildren, Audrey Ross, Henry Smith, and Stevie Smith, and a fourth great grand baby Smith on the way. June is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, seven sisters, and three brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. A private committal will follow at a later date in Welborn Cemetery, Moundville. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
