Ruth Marcella (Smith) Miller

Ruth Marcella (Smith) Miller, age 77, of Nevada, MO, passed away June 30, 2025, at her home. She was born on April 24, 1948 in Coudersport, Pennsylvania to Floyd and Georgia Smith.

Ruth spent her childhood with her 8 siblings, Christina, Floyd, Richard, Bobby, Billy, Kenny, Lois, and Johnny. She attended school primarily in Oklahoma but also had the opportunity to live in multiple states and countries as a young child. At age 14, she met the love of her life, Billy Miller, in Lawton, Oklahoma. They were united in marriage on May 23, 1963, and from their marriage came three children: Mary Ann (Miller) Jamsek, Billy Miller, Jr., and David Miller. 

Ruth was a dedicated wife, mother, worker, and later grandmother and great grandmother. After leaving Lawton, Ruth and Bill moved to Metz, Missouri, then Nevada, Missouri before settling in Austin, Texas, where she lived as a homemaker and part-time for Leander School District. Later, after returning to Missouri, she spent many years cleaning at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, and took great pride in her work. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She spent many years enjoying time with her grandchildren, including spending summers with them at the beach in Texas, and then many years enjoying time with her great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia and Floyd Smith; her daughter, Mary Ann (Miller) Jamsek and son-in-law, Roger Jamsek; and her siblings Christina Smith, Richard Smith, Kenny Smith, and Billy Smith.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Bill Miller, of the home; her sons, Bill (Robin) Miller, Jr., and David (Tricia) Miller, both of Nevada, MO; her grandchildren, Ruth (Marci) Marcella (Adam) Cook, Dorothy (George) Hamrick, Bill (Ryan) Miller III, Crystal (Jared) Miller, Trey (Angel) Miller, Devin (Beth) Miller, Dayton (Halley) Miller, Cody (Hallie) Miller; and 17 beloved great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
