Phyllis Caldwell, 80, of Sheldon, Missouri, passed away on July 3, 2025. Her story began on May 21, 1945, in Cincinnati Ohio, where she was born to the late Charles and Lucille (Sowers) Workman.

Phyllis was one of 14 children and grew up in New Richmond, Ohio, in a lively, full, and loving home. She later moved to Florida to begin a new chapter of her life, eventually settling in Sheldon, where she continued her life story.

Phyllis’ life was not measured by accolades or awards, but by the joy she found in being a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She was the kind of Mother who led with unconditional love, quiet strength, and endless patience. Her children always knew they had someone in their corner – encouraging them, believing in them, and loving them without hesitation.

Being a Mother was a blessing, but becoming a Grandmother was one of the most treasured chapters of her life. To them, she wasn’t just Grandma – she was their greatest blessing, safest place, and biggest fan. Her hugs could mend any bad day, and her advice was the kind you carry with you a lifetime.

She was always up for a lively game of Scrabble, usually with a cold Diet Pepsi in hand. She loved scratching lottery tickets, always hopeful that she would win big. A gifted cook, she made sure everyone felt welcome and cherished around her table. She brought warmth, joy, and a touch of sparkle to every gathering – but it was at Christmas that her magic truly came to life – creating memories her family will treasure forever.

She is survived by four daughters, Colleen Coffin (Bill), Sheldon, Mo; Sheila Aranyos (John) New Richmond, Ohio; Kitty Meisenheimer (Richard), Nevada, Mo; Krystal Godsey (Mark), Nevada, Mo; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Julia Brown, Zelma Crawford, Joan Biglow and Elizebeth Adkins; many nieces and nephews – and close friend Buddy Archer.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Colin Moore; her second husband Ted Herrington; and her beloved husband of 35 years, Floyd Caldwell. She was also preceded in death by three children – Kelly Hellbig, Mark Moore and Richard Moore – one grandson, Dusty Lafleur; and siblings, Marshall, Raymond, Mary, Betty, Harry, James, William, Charles and Judy.

Phyllis’ legacy lives on in the love she gave, the meals she shared, the traditions she started, and the lives she shaped. She will be missed by all who knew her. Though her earthly story has come to a close, it continues in the hearts of her family. Look closely, and you’ll see it is where her story lives on, not forgotten, but carried on with love.

A celebration of her life will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Sheldon United Methodist Church, in Sheldon Mo. – with Pastor Wayne Coble officiating. A private inurnment for the family will follow at Sheldon Cemetery.
