Bates County Speedway rolls into third week of action

BUTLER, Mo. -- Kerry Schultz of Moundville, Mo., is quickly making a name for himself as a track favorite at the recently-opened Bates County Speedway in Butler, Mo.

In only the Speedway's third week of operation, Schultz has finished no lower than second in late-model class features. He claimed a second on opening night, another second and then a win on Sunday.

Dustin Boney of Eudora, Kan., in his first appearance at the track, captured the modified feature, while Dan Nasalroad of neighboring LaCygne, Kan., is also finding the Speedway to his liking with steady improvement from seventh to third to a second-place finish.

Young gun Brett Heeter, a 16-year-old from Paola, Kan., came off his first career win at Lakeside Speedway on Saturday with a win in the pure stock feature. Kyle Rowland, Lenexa, Kan., has also been a steady contender with two straight seconds following a third on opening night.

Another first-time competitor at the track, Jay Lamons, Jr., captured the street stock feature.

Sixty-one cars competed at the Speedway on Sunday. Racing resumes on Sunday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m.
