Racing resumes at Nevada Speedway after foul-weather hiatus

Tuesday, May 27, 2003

Action resumed at the Nevada Speedway on Saturday after two weeks of rainouts. Three of the four points leaders further distanced themselves from the field with wins in the Memorial Day Special feature races at the 1/4-mile dirt track. Jack Simmons of Erie, Kan., won the late model class, Denny Chrisenberry of Bronaugh, Mo., took the street stock and Matt Rose of Liberal, Mo., in a late rush to overtake Delbert Agee, Jr., of Bronaugh, captured the mini-stock. It was the third win in four races for each. Brantlee Gotschall of Nevada stepped into the winner's circle for the first time with a victory in the modified division feature race. The win vaulted Gotschall, who defeated points leader Kevin Morrow of Nevada, into the top five at the No. 4 position in the points standings. Next Saturday, Nevada Speedway will feature the Street Stock Special, which was postponed on May 10, with a $500 prize to the winner.
