Louis Gordon Hoffman, 73, Sheldon, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at his home in Sheldon, following lengthy illness. He was born May 28, 1930, in Akron, Iowa, to Basil Fabian Hoffman and Gladys Edith Campbell Hoffman. He married Marjorie Joan Fields on June 25, 1982, in Miami, Okla., and she survives of the home.
Mr. Hoffman was born and raised in Iowa. He came to Vernon County in 1982 and has resided here since. He was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly Church in Nevada. Louis made his living as a trucker and business owner.
Survivors in addition to his wife Marjorie, include two daughters, Pamela Jean Powell, Rutland, S.D., and Nora Lou Kennedy, Sheldon, Mo.; three stepchildren, Della Breckenridge, Nevada, Mo., Peggy Bledsoe and William Nelson, both of Sheldon, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Scheirling; one brother, Daryled Hoffman; and one stepson, Donald Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 29, at the Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home in Sheldon with Shelby Brandt officiating. Interment will follow in Tolson Cemetery (northeast of Sheldon). Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends Sunday 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
