Myrtle E. Martin, 74, Nevada, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Paola, Kan., to Frederick Joseph Martin and Hazel Bessie Shaffer Martin.
Myrtle was a Baptist. She lived and worked in St. Louis, Mo., for Southwestern Bell as a long distance telephone operator for 30 years. Following her retirement she moved to Fairhope, Ala., where she became manager of a trailer park for 10 years before moving to Nevada to be near her brother in 2001.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Martin and his wife Martha, Nevada, Mo.; two nieces, Jodi Thomas, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Suzie McAlpine, Fort Worth, Texas; and one nephew, John R. Martin, Olathe, Kan.
No services are planned. Interment will be in Pattonville, Mo. Arrangements are by Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo.
