Janet R. Holcomb, 52, Nevada, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following complications following surgery. She was born on Nov. 23, 1951, in Nevada, Mo., to Dr. Philip H. Curry and Helen R. Scherer Curry.
Janet graduated from Nevada High School in 1969. She lived her entire life in Nevada. She had worked at the 3M plant and Renwick Insurance Agency and the Vernon County Clerk's office in Nevada, Mo. Most recently she volunteered her time at Nevada Regional Medical Center and Community Outreach.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Ast and her husband Kelly, Nevada, Mo.; one son, Chris Holcomb, Nevada, Mo.; one grandson, Jayden Fobbs, Nevada, Mo.; two step-grandchildren, Kelsie and Trenton Ast, both of Nevada, Mo.; one sister, Patricia, Quirk and husband Larry, Kansas City, Mo.; 10 nieces and nephews; former husband, Jerry Holcomb, Nevada, Mo.; and good friends, Bob Steinman, Nevada, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents.
It was Janet's wish to become an organ donor and requested that she be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, Mo.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday between 7 and 8:30 p.m.
