Robert Dougherty

Robert Dougherty, 87, Nevada, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2004, at his home in Nevada. He was born Dec. 10, 1916, in Cowlick, Ark., to Barney Wright Dougherty and Annie Gray Dougherty. He married Maggie Belle Burnett on Dec. 25, 1937 in Wynne, Ark., and she preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 1997.

Mr, Dougherty was born and raised in Cowlick, Ark. He attended school there. He came t( Milo from Satanta, Kan., in, 1963. He farmed all his working life near Milo and also worked at the Nevada State Hospital for 16 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren, Wynne, Ark. Robert was an avid hunter all of his life.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Plush, and her husband, Larry, Nevada; five grandchildren, Keni, Kevin and Craig Dougherty, all of Reidsville, N.C., Carrie Mendenhall, Nevada, and Mike Plush, Springfield, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Miranda Mendenhall, Nevada, and Seth Dougherty, Reidsville, N.C. In addition to his wife, Maggie, he was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Dougherty, in 1998.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Wes Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Milo Cemetery, Milo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
