Ernest Baertschi, 97, Nevada, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. He was born April 30, 1907, in Thayer, Mo., to Mathias Baertschi and Emma Rose Munz Baertschi. He was married December 6, 1940, in Thayer, Mo., to Lorene Mills Baertschi. She preceded him in death Jan. 17, 1995.
Mr. Baertschi grew up in Thayer, Mo., and came to Bronaugh in 1950. He farmed and worked as a carpenter. In 1959 he went to work at the Nevada State Hospital until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the Bronaugh Baptist Church and later became a member at Calvary Baptist Church in Nevada. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Led-Ford and husband Ray, Fort Scott, Kan., Charlotte McCrory, Canal Winchester, Ohio; one son, Charles Baertschi and wife Mary Lou, Nevada; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister Nell Mills, Thayer, Mo.; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 24, at Moore Cemetery in Nevada. Friends may call from now and until 9:30 a.m. Monday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
