Letters to the editor
AUTUMN IN SCHELL CITY
Dear editor:
As our community today celebrates
With our Fall Festival here in town
Please don't forget that on this date
The twin towers had tumbled down
Stealing the innocence of the nation
Our four airliners hijacked that day
Taking terrorists to their destination
Which left a great nation in disarray
In horror all watched on our screen
As the smoke rolled from each site
It was such a terrible horrific scene
On peoples faces we seen the fright
Into the pentagon one plane crashed
There many more had died that day
With the heros the terrorists clashed
When flight ninety three went astray
So while we all enjoy our festivities
I ask for survivors we'll say a prayer
We shall enjoy all our fun activities
Knowing they are in Our Lord's care
So on the eleventh day of September
In the year of two thousand and four
Three years ago today we remember
As the day our nation went into war
Gathered today our little town cries
While we honor those heros in Iraq
There a thousand four soldiers died
Since the dreadful day of the attack
Fun, games, and musicians will sing
Put together by our town committee
In our home town our freedom rings
Celebrating "Autumn In Schell City"

Schell City
In appreciation of Cottey picnic
Dear editor:
We brought our daughter to Cottey to start her college career and appreciated the welcoming picnic put on by the city of Nevada and the area churches for the students and their families. The food and music were good. It was a nice opportunity to meet city officials and other folks in Nevada in a relaxing fun environment. Please let those, who were responsible for planning and conducting the event, know that their support was appreciated. It was a great welcome to the city.
