Deaths

Delores May Harris

Delores May Harris, 74, Kansas City, Mo., died Nov. 2, 2004, at her home. Delores was born April 9, 1930, in Metz, Mo., to Adrian and Nellie Madline (Robison) White.

She is preceded in death by her father; and sister, Connie Jo. She is survived by her mother, Madline Hopkins; sons, Jeffrey Stapleton, Robert Stapleton; a brother, A.J. White; a sister, Mary Garver; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Nov. 6, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 N. Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements were by D.W. Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home.

Alta Maye Schasteen

Alta Maye Schasteen, 77, Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at Mercy Health Center. She was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Muskogee, Okla., the daughter of Frank Hall and Icie Williams Hall. She married Russell V. Schasteen on Aug. 4, 1946, in Arma, Kan. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1986.

She and her husband owned and operated the Schasteen Grocery Store prior to her husband's death. She worked later as activities director for Medicalodge. She was a member of the Community Christian Church.

She is survived by a son, Jerry V. Schasteen, Nevada; a daughter, Patricia A. Cruse, Fort Scott, Kan.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, an infant and William R. Hall.

Pastor Lloyd Houk will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 8, in the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to City of Fort Scott Blue Chip Fund and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.

James W. "Jim" Noyes

James W. "Jim" Noyes, 70, Liberal, Mo., died today, Nov. 3, 2004, at his home in Liberal. He was born in Liberal on Oct. 1, 1934, to James Ray and Eula Maude (Millard) Noyes. On Jan. 23, 1955, he married Luella "Lucy" Bunton at the Methodist Church in Liberal, and she survives.

He was a self-employed farmer. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1952, and was Salutatorian of his class. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 12 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by three sons, David Noyes, Pittsburg, Kan., Jerry Noyes, Liberal, Chris Noyes, Cleveland, Mo.; one daughter, Linda Doty, Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, John Noyles, Liberal, and Tom Noyes, Lathrop, Mo.; one sister, Sue Martin, Gladstone, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal, at 2 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 5. Pallbearers will be, Colin Doty, Kyle Noyes, Christopher Noyes, Brian Henegar, Kevin Henegar and Jeff Long. Preferred memorials are to the Liberal Park Shelter House or the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home. Arrangements were by Konantz-Warden Funeral Home.
