Mr. Wimer lived in Sonora, Calif., since 1968. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 10 years as a surveyor. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was a member of the Sonora Elks Lodge for approximately 60 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret Wimer, Sonora, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Laverne Harris, Nevada; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack Andrew Wimer.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating.
Friends may call after Monday and until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
