Maxine V. Hayes, 82, Nevada, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, in St. Joseph Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., following a short illness. She was born Nov. 13, 1922, in rural Horton, to Carl Raines and Mae Lynn Raines. She married William Jay Hayes on July 22, 1949, in Harrison, Ark., and he preceded her in death on May 22,1994.
Maxine attended schools in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. She lived in Kansas City most of her adult life. Maxine and her husband moved back to Nevada in 1979 when they retired. She lived the remainder of her life here.
Survivors include one son, John Fraise and his wife, Johnna, Lee's Summit, Mo.; two grandchildren, Kim Harrison and her husband, Mike, Independence, Mo., and Stefanie Fraise, Kansas City, Mo.; five great-grandchildren; one niece, Judy Boyce, Nevada; and two nephews, Donnie and Bobby Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Paul Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in Deepwood Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
