Glyndur James "Jim" Davies

Glyndur James "Jim" Davies, 91, Nevada, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following an illness of several months. He was born May 28, 1913, in Johnstown, Pa., to William Davies and Elizabeth Makepeace Davies. He married Maletha Margaret Harker on Feb. 24, 1945, in Hollsopple, Pa., and she survives of the home.

Jim was born and raised in Johnstown, PA. He served in the Army from 1942-1946 during World War II. He worked as a mechanic all of his life for Chevrolet dealerships in Johnstown, Pa., and Lorain, Ohio, where he retired from Joe Firment Chevrolet, retiring in 1990. He came to Nevada in December 2003. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He went to be with the Lord on Dec. 17, 2004. He was a loving husband, father, and provider for his family.

Survivors in addition to his wife Maletha, include two sons, Harold Wayne Davies, Nevada, and James Gerald Davies, Cumming, Ga.; two step-grandchildren, William Turgeon and Calvin Boyd III. He was preceded in death by one brother, John R. Davies; and four sisters, Annie May Davies, Margaret Davies, Mabel Shaffer, Gladys Davies, and Ruth N. Davies.

Family visitation will be held 7-8 p.m. on Sunday evening, Dec. 19, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family receives friends 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening Dec. 21, at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville, Pa. Funeral services will at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Custer Community Cemetery, Hollsopple, Pa.
