The Nevada Lady Tigers took on the Carthage Lady Tigers in the championship game of the Carthage Lady Tiger Invitational Saturday night.

The game featured two conference and district foes, and the past three winners of the event.

Nevada won the tournament last season after beating Carthage in the championship game. The previous year it was the same two schools in the title game, but Carthage got the win.

For Nevada, it was the sixth consecutive year of play in the tournament final.

The Lady Tigers have won two of those, winning also in 2002.

Mount Vernon, who lost 51-36 to Carthage Friday in the semifinals, played Nixa for third.

The fifth and seventh-place games will also were played Saturday.

Neosho played Joplin for fifth place, while Carl Junction played the Joplin junior varsity for seventh.

Nevada has won the tournament three times overall, the most of any school. This is the 10th year of the event.

For complete coverage of the tournament including a recap of Saturday's championship, see the Tuesday edition of the Nevada Daily Mail.
