Harlan Dwight Haines, 80, of Belton, Mo., died Jan. 24, 2005, at Belton Research Hospital. He was born May 9, 1924, in Butler Grove, Ill.

He graduated from Nevada High School in 1942. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad for 30 years retiring in 1978.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karol; and daughter, Marcia Sue Hays. He is survived by his wife, Irene Haines; son, Brad Haines; step-daughters, Loretta Hacker and Charlotte Brown; step-son Steven Lyon; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; six step grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27, at Cullen Funeral Home with burial in Belton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, Mo.
