Former resident of POW camp seeks information

Dear editor:

This last Christmas my memory went way back to Christmas 1944 -- 60 years ago -- when I was interned in Camp Clark since Sept. 5, 1944. I had come there from Normandy/France via England.

My reason for writing to you is to find out how much the local paper reported at that time about the near by Camp Clark. Are there still some people who remember this period and what their feeling was to live so near a POW Camp.

I am going to rewrite my diary and would mostly appreciate to have some impressions of people who lived on the other side of the fence.

I did not realise that there was a small town so very near our Camp until 1993 when I visited Camp Clark after having taken part in a ceremony at Fort Leonard Wood.

In case you want to contact me via e-mail, here is my address: w.e.krauskopf@ceka-band.de

I will appreciate your answer even if it is negative.
