She was born and raised in Nevada. She graduated from Nevada High School. She was co-owner of the House of Fabrics in Nevada and operated the shop for 10 years. She was a past member of the Dianas Missouri Federated Women's Club, as well as the Carthage Chapter of Pythian Sisters, a lifetime member of Lutheran Christian Women, and a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Joplin.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Fredrick Bernhardt Jr., Albuquerque, N.M., and Ernie Bernhardt, Nevada; one daughter, Sue Ann Lokensgard, Springfield; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Steven Edward Bernhardt; four brothers; and two sisters.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, at the First Christian Church in Nevada, with BilI Platt officiating. Private committal will be held at Newton Burial Park on Feb. 14. Friends may call now and until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
