Dean Stark Butterfield, age 91, of Nevada died on Friday, March 4, 2005, at Christian Health Care in Nevada following a lengthy illness. He was born on Oct. 14, 1913, in Moundville, to Walter and Effie Mae Stark Butterfield. He was married to Ruth Riek and she preceded him in death in 1992.
Dean grew up in the Moundville area. He was a dairy farmer and later a beef cattle farmer. He also owned and managed numerous rental houses in Nevada.
Dean is survived by his companion, Juanita Bledsoe of the home; one daughter, Judith A. Spencer, of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Greg Butterfield, of Nevada, Todd Butterfield, of Neosho, Tim Butterfield, of Whitefish, Mont., Dean Butterfield, St. Louis, Blake Butterfield, St. Louis, and Mayling Butterfield, Nevada; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Butterfield, Nevada, and Blaine Butterfield, of Florida; one sister, Ruth Irene Butterfield, Nevada; and one daughter-in-law, Kuan Kuan Butterfield, of Nevada. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Dean Butterfield in 1994; a granddaughter, Misty Workman, in 1991; and three brothers, Ray, Max and Siebert Butterfield.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh.
Friends may call from now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 6 p.m.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
