Lena "Irene" Wade Reynolds

Lena "Irene" Wade Reynolds, 92, Nevada, passed away March l9, 2005, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was born Jan. 8, 1913, in Nevada, to Fred L. Wade and Dottie (Poland) Wade. She married Reed Reynolds on June 10, 1934. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1999, after spending 65 loving years with his beloved Irene.

Irene grew up in Nevada, attending West Point grade school, Nevada High School and Fort Scott Junior College. Irene was a homemaker and loved being a devoted Christian, wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was so pleasant and happy and told everyone God richly blessed her life with family and friends. She blessed everyone she came in contact with her love and kindness. She and Reed moved from Nevada in 1934. They lived in Texarkana, Texas, where their eldest son, Harold Reed Reynolds, was born in 1935; Hot Springs, Ark.; Parsons, Kan.; Key West, Fla.; Columbia, S.C., where their youngest son, Larry Allen Reynolds, was born in 1946; and finally was transferred to New York City in 1948. They lived in the New York/New Jersey area until Reed's retirement from S.H. Kress Company in January 1976. After retirement they moved to Kernersville, N.C., until April 1991 at which time they returned "home" to Nevada. Irene was an active member of United Methodist Church, Nevada, (where she was very active in the women's groups) until about 1999 when diagnosed with advanced Alzheimer's.

Survivors include her two sons, Harold Reed Reynolds and wife, Penny, of Nevada, and Larry Allen Reynolds and his wife, Geri, of Saddle Brook, N.J. One brother, Woodrow Wade of Wright City, Mo. Six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dottie Wade. Her loving husband, Reed Reynolds. One sister, Marie Wade Baucom; three brothers, Vernon Wade, Harold Wade, and Bill (Loren) Wade; and one grandson, John Reed Reynolds.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight between 7 and 8 p.m.
