Allene Opal Hiestand, 90, Nevada, died Aug. 16, 2005, at Christian Health Care in Nevada following a long illness.
She was born Feb. 28, 1915, at Dederick, to John and Eva (Key) Folkner. Allene married Clifford Eldon Hiestand on Oct. 9, 1933, in Fort Scott, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Allene was a long-time Vernon County resident. She worked for Key Work Clothes for several years. She enjoyed working in crafts and sewing for grandchildren. She was a member of the Jolly Homemakers Club and the Milo Club.
Mrs. Hiestand is survived by two sons, Myron Hiestand and his wife, Wanda, El Dorado Springs, and Wayne Hiestand and his wife, Dorene, Nevada; two granddaughters, Rhonda Williams and her husband, Steve, El Dorado Springs, and Tina Stewart, Nevada; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Folkner and his wife, Ruby, Nevada; and five sisters, Johnnie Medley, Moundville, Nadene Moore and her husband, Billy, Claremore, Okla., Bessie Folkner, Sierra Vista, Ariz., Verna Overstreet, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Evea Jordan, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; two sisters; and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Aug. 22, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
