Rosalene Verdean Barker, 85, Nevada, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born June 27, 1920, in Nevada, to Harrison J. Kiger and Mariah Louise Webb Kiger. She married Arthur Merl Barker on May 3, 1938, in Nevada. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2000.
Rosalene was born and reared in this area and spent most all of her life here.
She was a homemaker and attended the Nevada Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Howard Barker and his wife, Donna, Independence, Mo.; four daughters, Evelyn Boyd and her husband, Calvin, Nevada, Nola Barker, Tigard, Ore., Sharlene Sisson, Nevada, Carol Anderson and her husband, Sherwood, Mora, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Allen Eugene Barker and Larry Merl Barker; one son-in-law, Barney Sisson, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and nine siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Ted Furry and Kelly Kiger officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
