Patricia Louise Hayes, 82, Nevada, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at Christian Health Care in Nevada. She was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Nevada, to Wilbur Dewey Stukesbary and Hazel Noyes Stukesbary. She was married Sept. 8, 1940, in Nevada, to Robert L. Hayes, who was her loving husband for more than 65 years. He preceded her in death Sept. 5, 2004.
Patricia was a 1940, graduate of Nevada High School and was a beautician at Betty Haines Beauty Shop before turning her career into becoming a full-time wife and mother. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Jefferson City, Mo., and served as the organist there for many years. Patricia was also active in the Jefferson City chapter of the AARP and in 1993, she and Robert were awarded their annual award for "Outstanding Service to the Community." One of their projects was a program assisting the elderly on Medicare/Medicaid matters.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael L. and Gail D. Hayes, Galena Ohio; grandchildren Corporal Dustin M. Hayes and Amber N. Hayes of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Gomer Stukesbary and his wife Becky and their family, Ness City, Kan., and Donald Stukesbary and wife Betty and their family, Nevada, Mo.; many loving nieces and nephews living within the Nevada vicinity.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada, with Bill Garwood officiating.
Friends may call now and until 10:30 am., Wednesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday between 6-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made, in Patricia's name, to the Barone Alzheimer's Care Center, Nevada, in care of the funeral home.
