John Elbert Maus

John Elbert Maus, age 58, the son of Claude David and Mary Ellen (Davis) Maus was born Oct. 6, 1947, in Nevada, Mo., and passed from this life on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada.

John attended school in Schell City, graduating with the class of 1965. After school he entered the U.S. Army, serving a tour in Vietnam before returning home. On Oct. 5. 1973, John was united in marriage to Marcia Gail Kurt in Nevada, and to their union two children were born. John's working years included construction, logging, and 15 years working at 3M in Nevada. He retired early from 3M due to ill health. John was also known to be an excellent mechanic, helping many people in the area work on cars. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was baptized into Christianity at an early age.

Survivors include his wife Marcia of the home in Schell City; one son, Jason Maus also of Schell City; one daughter, Jennifer Maus of El Dorado Spring, Mo.; his mother, Mary Ellen Maus of Nevada; three brothers, David Maus and Danny Maus both of Schell City, and Charlie Maus of Belton, Mo.; five grandchildren, Kyleigh, Jadyn, Rhianna, Jacob, and Lindsey; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services with military honors and interment will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 31, at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City, with Gene Gray officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Freeman Hearts in care of the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, who are in charge of the funeral arrangements.
