Roberta Belle Smading

Roberta Belle Smading, El Dorado Springs, Mo., passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Mo., following a brief illness.

She was born in Nevada, Mo., to Walter M. Moore and Mildred Berneice Woodward Moore. She and T.J. Smading were married June 5, 1947, in Girard, Kan., and he survives of the home.

Roberta was born and reared in Nevada, and graduated from Nevada High School in 1945. She and her husband lived in various locals including 14 years in Cassville, Mo., and the past 28 years in El Dorado Springs. Roberta worked for 22 years on the Christmas Basket Program for families in need. She attended the First Christian Church in El Dorado Springs and was a member of the D.A.R. Elizabeth Carey Chapter. Her greatest joy in life was to be surrounded by family and friends.

Survivors in addition to her husband, T.J., include two sons, Michael Jay Smading, Nixa, Mo., and Robert Joseph Smading, Ozark, Mo.; two daughters, Patricia Gail Rue, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Vicki Sue Johnson, Springfield; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Foster, Livingston, Texas; and one brother, Claude Moore, Nevada.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 1, at Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Memorials may be given to the D.A.R. Elizabeth Carey Chapter in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
