Lena Irene Westbay, 80, Lamar, Mo., died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Truman Healthcare Facility in Lamar. She was born Oct. 10, 1925, to Paul and Ethel (Smith) Loewe, in Milford, Mo., in Barton County.

She married Harold Westbay on May 17, 1944, in Girard, Kan. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1999.

Mrs. Westbay resided in the Lamar area all of her life. She was a homemaker and a machine operator for Big Smith and later did the housekeeping for John Deere in Lamar. Her memberships included the Bethany Baptist Church and the Jolly Time Quilting Club. She loved to sew and make everything from quilts to dresses.

Survivors include one son, Dean Westbay, and wife Dorris, of Lamar; one daughter, Donna Arnold, and husband Bob, of Lamar; one brother, Gene Loewe; five sisters, Edna Mae Mayfield, Vilma Crockett, Betty Gilmartin, Nadine Mayfield and Wilma Braker; four granddaughters; one grandson; five great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 6, at 2 p.m., at the Konantz-Warden Funeral Home Chapel, in Lamar. Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery, Lamar.
