Sheriff's Office reports an upswing in daylight burglaries

Vernon County Sheriff Ron Peckman said Vernon County is seeing a jump in the number of daylight burglaries.

"We've had several out in the county," Peckman said.

Vernon County isn't the only one experiencing the problem.

"Bates County is having this problem too," Peckman said. "It's bad and getting worse."

Peckman said people out in the county should be alert.

"Keep an eye out and pay attention," Peckman said. "Get license numbers if you see a suspicious vehicle."

If you do see something suspicious, report it.

"We need as much information as we can get," Peckman said. "Let us know if there is something going on that shouldn't be."
