Mary Elizabeth Evans, age 71, Lamar, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar. Mary was born in Vernon County on Oct. 31, 1934, to Charles and Emma (Archer) Cochran.

She worked as a waitress before retiring. Barton County Eagles were proud to have Mary as a charter member. She was also a former member of the Nevada Eagles.

Survivors include two sisters, Joan Antel and Ellen Lawson, both of Nevada, Mo., many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Delbert "Bill" Cochran; a son, Randy Goodson; and a daughter, Janice Lewis.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar. Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
